I feel good when I wake up early. Especially when you look at the clock and see that it’s only 12pm and you already accomplished so much. I’ve been waking up at 7:15am these days and I love it. I usually wake up at 9am, workout, eat and then start my day around 1pm. And because I started late, I wasn’t going to bed till like 2am.
The whole thing that got me started on this, was a friend and I decided to go for a sunrise run. And what inspired that was seeing Benjamin Button. I felt life is so precious, I might as well live it the best I can. So I got up at 6 and went running on the beach, it was amazing.
So why 7:15am, well I figured if I could get up at 7:15 back in the day for school, then I could for sure get my ass up, to do shit I liked doing. Now it wasn’t easy starting this, because I was no morning person, but over time my body got used to it and I became a morning person. Everyone is different, some might work better at night, but I know I work best when I wake up at 7:15am.
How do you get yourself up in the morning? When do you work best?
Much Love,
Mike

I seem to do my best work in the morning – but especially lately, getting up early is really hard (especially since i have to stay up late studying and doing homework). How I get up though? I have one really, really annoying alarm clock, and then alarms set up on my phone, and keep everything in different places and set to go off one by one. Even so though, “sleeping in” these days means sleeping till 9, lol.

I’m extremely light sensitive, so the sunrise always wakes me up… Unless it is winter. Here in Japan, the sun can rise at 3AM in the summer. On those days, I get up at 3AM. In the winter, it might not rise until 8AM. As I have to get up earlier than that, 7AM at the latest, I have an alarm on my computer that wakes me up to music. Preferably something traditional or classical. The sun is finally starting to rise around 6AM again, which is great for me.
I am thinking of investing in one of those alarm clocks that doesn’t ring, but instead simulates the sunrise… but I don’t need to do that until winter rolls around again.

I am definitely a morning person. I always have been. When I was teaching I would get to school two hours before school started. I accomplished so much more when there weren’t people around to distract me. These days I still get up early. My day starts between 5 and 5:30am. I just wake up. I don’t think I have had an alarm go off in years. Of course, infant twins are all the alarm clock you could ever need! They are early risers just like me and their daddy!

Love early morning! Love the sunrise! I used to have a job starting at 6 am. I took my bike ride over the bridges overlooking Stockholm’s blue water and yellow old buildings every morning around 5.30 and I would get to work feeling fit for fight.
You are right, getting up a little bit earlier is like buying yourself extra time. It is like workout. You dont spend energy. You gain.
Enjoy your beach runs!

Haha. Are you serious?
No, but really… I do know how refreshing it is to be up early… But I dig earlier hours, like 5 am… When nobody’s up and it’s all peaceful and quiet. Even for walks or runs… That’s absolutely awesome.
However my problem is not getting up but going to bed at the right time… That’s the hardest thing to do, even when you’re tired… I could go on for days of being tired and getting up somewhat early, than going to bed at a good hour and awake rested. LOL

Okami- that sounds like the coolest alarm clock ever! I’ve never heard of that.

I wish I was a morning person, I work much better at night, sometimes I’ll spend up till 5 am painting….maybe that’s why I’m not a morning person, Benjamin button does give you more perspective on life. If you haven’t already the wrestler was a really good movie.

I’m definitely a night owl, but I have to wake at 5:30 every morning so I can make it to school in time. I usually stay up till at least eleven, which probably isn’t very good for my body (and probably why I’m starting to need afternoon naps after school haha), but I can see why you would like to do things in the morning. It’s not as hectic an atmosphere as it is during the day. And yeah, Liz, I completely understand not getting to bed on time haha
